About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This role involves obtaining laboratory specimens for processing and performing other testing in a professional manner from hospital, clinic and nursing home patients to ensure quality results in accordance with regulatory and accreditation standards. The phlebotomist will collect and manage samples of blood and specimens from patients, ensuring patient safety during the sample collection process. They will accurately record and document patient information, follow all standard procedures and safety regulations, and deploy asepsis techniques during phlebotomy procedures. Additionally, the phlebotomist will communicate with patients, collecting their health information and answering their questions regarding phlebotomy procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development Diploma (GED) required.
  • Basic knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology.
  • May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous work experience in a medical setting is beneficial.
  • Completion of a formal phlebotomy program, phlebotomy experience, and experience in a laboratory-related field preferred.
