About The Position
Labcorp is seeking a Phlebotomist Float to join its team in Salem, Virginia, serving route locations in Salem, Roanoke, Covington, and Blacksburg. The role provides phlebotomy services across a variety of patients, team members, clinics, and locations, offering opportunities to gain experience and develop skills. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, with varying hours between 6:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. The Phlebotomist performs blood collections, gathers specimens for various tests, records patient and specimen information, prepares specimens for testing, and provides customer service. The role also includes administrative duties and travel to additional sites as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Comfort working under minimal supervision.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.
- Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
Nice To Haves
- One year or more of phlebotomy experience.
- In lieu of work experience, phlebotomy certification or completion of a training program from an accredited agency.
- Proven track record of providing exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities
- Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for patients of all age groups.
- Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, alcohol tests, and other purposes.
- Enter patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
- Process billing information and collect payments when necessary.
- Prepare collected specimens for testing and analysis.
- Maintain patient and specimen information logs.
- Provide superior customer service to patients.
- Perform administrative and clerical duties as necessary.
- Travel to additional sites when needed.
