About The Position

Performs a variety of phlebotomy procedures and/or patient point-of-care testing in support of clinical activities within the healthcare system. The role works with healthcare providers and patients on phlebotomy service issues, ensures work quality and accuracy, investigates issues involving equipment, patient results, specimens, or workflow, and performs procedures, quality control, and equipment maintenance in the appropriate laboratory. The position is per diem, onsite, with variable scheduling and four standard hours per week.

Requirements

• One year of phlebotomy experience, or graduation from a phlebotomy program with no previous experience required.
• No education is required if other position qualifications are met.
• No licensure or certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Consults and confers with healthcare providers and patients about patient care related to phlebotomy service issues.
• Ensures the quality and accuracy of work.
• Investigates problems with equipment, patient results, specimens, and/or workflow.
• May participate on teams or perform special projects and assignments.
• May teach and train new employees, phlebotomy students, and/or other healthcare providers.
• May review test results for accurate reporting and timely correction of errors, or report results to healthcare providers.
• Performs phlebotomy procedures, quality control, and equipment maintenance in the appropriate laboratory.
• Ensures completion of daily work and assigned tasks and monitors daily laboratory work-area operations.
