About The Position

Holyoke Medical Center’s laboratory team is seeking a Phlebotomist to support its mission of working collaboratively to ensure quality results for every patient, every time. The role involves collecting blood from inpatients, outpatients, and home care patients of all ages, including newborns and children. The successful candidate will contribute to a stand-alone hospital laboratory, adapt to a growing test menu, share ideas for continuous improvement, and work effectively as part of a team.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency in the use of computers.
• Reliable transportation.
• Two years of hospital phlebotomy experience, including registering patients, or completion of phlebotomy training at an approved school.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time.
• Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood collection procedures on inpatients, outpatients, and home care patients of all ages, including newborns and children.
• Register patients as part of hospital phlebotomy work, when applicable.
• Work collaboratively with the laboratory team to ensure quality results for every patient.
• Adapt to new practices as the test menu grows and contribute ideas to continuous improvement.
