About The Position

The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood, and non-blood, specimens using appropriate blood collection equipment according to the Laboratory Specimen Collection Manual and Phlebotomy Procedures. The role involves interpreting physician orders, collecting specimens from patients of all ages, processing lab specimens, and following safe practices. Additional duties include performing outpatient EKGs, operating a centrifuge, ensuring proper specimen transfer and storage, and communicating with the lab scheduler, regional coordinators, and managers. The position may require travel between sites for unscheduled absences and emergencies, and ongoing compliance with Network and departmental policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of a phlebotomy school with a minimum of 100 successful hours.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Effective independent judgement in the performance of the assigned duties.
  • Strong customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of secondary education preferred.
  • At least 1 year of Phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Travel between sites when needed for unscheduled absences and/or emergencies.
  • Review for understanding and comply with all Network and departmental policies and procedures.
