The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood, and non-blood, specimens using appropriate blood collection equipment according to the Laboratory Specimen Collection Manual and Phlebotomy Procedures. This role involves interpreting physician orders, collecting specimens from patients of all ages, handling and processing lab specimens, and adhering to safe practices. Additionally, the Phlebotomist may perform outpatient EKGs, operate a centrifuge, ensure proper specimen transfer and storage, and communicate with schedulers and managers. Travel between sites may be required for unscheduled absences or emergencies. The position also requires ongoing review and compliance with all Network and departmental policies and procedures.
