Phlebotomist: 20 Hours Per Week (PM)
About The Position
Ascension Alexian Brothers is seeking a Phlebotomist to join their team. This role involves collecting blood specimens, performing laboratory office duties, and processing laboratory specimens. Responsibilities include patient registration, data entry, specimen accessioning, answering phones, and processing paperwork. Specimen processing involves preparing specimens for testing and shipment. The individual may also perform waived and specified non-waived POC tests. In some facilities, this role may also include driving and participating in an on-call rotation.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Previous phlebotomy experience and/or training is required
- Valid driver’s license and a good driving record
- May be required to travel/drive to other locations
Nice To Haves
- Background in a medical laboratory
- Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred
Responsibilities
- Collection of blood specimens

- Preparation of specimens for testing and/or for sending to the central laboratory or to a reference laboratory
- Handling blood, body fluid and urine specimens according to established procedures
- Performing limited waived and specified non-waived POC tests as authorized by the Laboratory Director
- Acting as a driver and participating in the on-call rotation (as required in some facilities)
