About The Position

This posting is specifically for positions located at our Clinic locations in Southern, NH. We are seeking candidates for permanent employment in the positions listed below. An integral part of our hospital operations, the role of the Phlebotomist is a key player in the facilitation of collecting and passing along a vital piece of information to our Laboratory and Pathologists to help DHMC and Clinics achieve our mission of providing each person the best care, in the right place, at the right time, every time. The Phlebotomist collects blood samples from patients of all ages. Identifies patients and procures samples. We are seeking candidates with prior Phlebotomy experience, or those looking to start a new career as a Phlebotomist, for whom we will provide on-the-job training for the position/shift you are offered. We currently have the following open position(s): Concord Clinic: Full-time (day shift), 40 hours/week, working Monday-Friday; specifics of working hours will be discussed during the interview Part-time (day shift), 20 hours/week, working Monday-Friday from 6:45 am - 11:00. Manchester Clinic: Full-time (day shift), 40 hours/week, working Monday-Friday, day shift hours. Nashua Clinic: Per Diem (rotating), this position will work scheduled hours Monday through Friday from 7:00 am - 8:30 pm and Saturday and Sunday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm All per diem, part-time, and full-time positions require weekends on rotation. Part-time and full-time positions require rotating holidays. All positions may rotate to other clinic locations as needed. Our Career Ladder allows you to continue growing in the department while your hourly rate increases as you meet the competencies. Additionally, we are offering the following incentives: A $2,500 sign-on/retention bonus for day shifts. The bonus is available for external hires only, and certain conditions apply. This is pro-rated for qualifying candidates for part-time positions (20+ hours).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required (for all positions).
  • BLS certification required within 30 days of hire (Trainee).
  • Enrollment or preparation for ASCP certification (Trainee).
  • Ability to demonstrate willingness to learn and follow directions (Trainee).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff (Trainee).
  • Proficient in developing safe and proper phlebotomy techniques (Trainee).
  • (BLS) Basic Life Support required (Phlebotomist).
  • ASCP eligibility required (Phlebotomist).
  • Skilled in performing accurate and efficient venipuncture and capillary collection (Phlebotomist).
  • Ability to apply knowledge of specimen requirements for various laboratory tests (Phlebotomist).
  • Proficient in communicating effectively with patients and interdisciplinary staff (Phlebotomist).
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism, accuracy, and safety in all tasks (Phlebotomist).
  • Minimum of 12 months’ experience required (Senior Phlebotomist).
  • (BLS) Basic Life Support required (Senior Phlebotomist).
  • ASCP eligibility required (Senior Phlebotomist).
  • Proficient in advanced venipuncture and capillary collections (Senior Phlebotomist).
  • Ability to provide mentorship and support to team members (Senior Phlebotomist).
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and problem-solving (Senior Phlebotomist).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff under varied circumstances (Senior Phlebotomist).
  • Basic Life Saving (BLS) required within 30 days of employment (Phlebotomist Trainee).
  • Basic Life Saving (BLS) required to start (Phlebotomist and Senior Phlebotomist).

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of Phlebotomy Trainee program or minimum of 6 months’ experience preferred (for Phlebotomist role).

Responsibilities

  • Learns proper techniques for drawing blood from adult and pediatric patients.
  • Practices accurate patient identification and specimen labeling under supervision.
  • Collects and processes routine samples.
  • Assists in maintaining phlebotomy supplies, equipment, and work areas.
  • Develops competencies in computer systems used for specimen tracking and processing.
  • Uses knowledge to identify issues and identifies resources to assist with resolution.
  • Participates in classroom, simulation, and hands-on training activities.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned (Trainee).
  • Draws and collects blood specimens using proper techniques.
  • Accurately identifies patients and ensures correct specimen labeling and documentation.
  • Performs basic troubleshooting of samples requisitions, orders, and computer issues and escalates as needed.
  • Provides reassurance and professional care to patients during procedures.
  • Prepares specimens for in-lab testing or off-site shipment.
  • Follows infection control, safety, and quality assurance procedures consistently.
  • Ensures blood drawing stations are clean and well-stocked.
  • Assists in training new Phlebotomists.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned (Phlebotomist).
  • Draws and collects blood specimens using proper techniques (Senior Phlebotomist).
  • Handles difficult or complex blood draws.
  • Provides reassurance and professional care to patients during procedures (Senior Phlebotomist).
  • Maintains clean and stocked phlebotomy stations and equipment.
  • Assists with training and mentoring new phlebotomists in proper procedures.
  • Assists in organizing workflow, troubleshoots samples, and ensures timely specimen collection and delivery, maintaining detailed and accurate records of specimens collected.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned (Senior Phlebotomist).
