About The Position

As the practice grows, they are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Phlebotomist to join their healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide excellent patient care while ensuring accurate specimen collection and maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and confidentiality. The Phlebotomist is responsible for obtaining blood and other specimens through venipunctures, capillary punctures, finger sticks, and related collection procedures. This position plays an important role in supporting patient care by ensuring specimens are collected accurately, processed appropriately, and documented correctly within the electronic medical record.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous phlebotomy experience or completion of a phlebotomy training program.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn electronic medical record systems.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • Phlebotomy certification.
  • Experience working in a physician office, clinic, or healthcare setting.
  • Experience with electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

  • Perform venipunctures, capillary punctures, finger sticks, and dipstick testing accurately and efficiently.
  • Prepare patients for specimen collection and explain procedures in a professional and reassuring manner.
  • Follow established protocols for specimen preparation, collection, labeling, handling, and processing.
  • Accurately enter patient and specimen information into the electronic medical record and laboratory systems.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile work environment.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and handling of laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Follow infection control and safety guidelines at all times.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, physicians, and coworkers.
  • Assist with other clinical or laboratory duties as assigned.
