About The Position

The Phlebotomist collects blood specimens, performs laboratory office duties, and processes laboratory specimens. Office duties include registering patients, accurately entering required information into the computer system, accessioning specimens, answering telephone calls, and processing paperwork. Specimen processing includes preparing specimens for testing or shipment to a central or reference laboratory. The role handles blood, body fluid, and urine specimens according to established procedures and may perform limited waived and specified non-waived point-of-care tests as authorized by the Laboratory Director. At some facilities, the employee may act as a driver and participate in the on-call rotation. The position is PRN (Per Rotation Needed) at Franciscan Health Crawfordsville in Crawfordsville, Indiana, with all shifts and hours, rotating shifts, and weekend and/or holiday rotation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Previous phlebotomy experience and/or training is required.
• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
• May be required to travel or drive to other locations.

Nice To Haves

• Background in a medical laboratory and/or knowledge of medical terminology.
