Phlebotomist: 20 Hours Per Week (PM)
About The Position
Ascension Saint Alexius in Hoffman Estates is seeking a Phlebotomist to work 20 hours per week during the PM shift (2:30 PM to 11:00 PM). This role involves collecting blood specimens, performing laboratory office duties such as patient registration and data entry, and processing laboratory specimens. The position also includes preparing specimens for testing and shipment, handling various body fluid specimens, and potentially performing waived and specified non-waived Point-of-Care (POC) tests. In some facilities, the individual may also act as a driver and participate in on-call rotations. Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Previous phlebotomy experience and/or training is required
- Valid driver’s license and a good driving record

- Background in a medical laboratory
- Knowledge of medical terminology
Responsibilities
- Collection of blood specimens
- Performing laboratory office duties including registering patients, entering data into the computer system, specimen accessioning, answering telephone calls, and processing paperwork
- Processing laboratory specimens, including preparation for testing and/or shipment to central or reference laboratories
- Handling blood, body fluid, and urine specimens according to established procedures
- Performing limited waived and specified non-waived POC tests as authorized by the Laboratory Director
- Acting as a driver and participating in on-call rotation (in some facilities, as required)
- Traveling/driving to other locations (may be required)
