About The Position
At Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center’s laboratory in Hartford, Connecticut, the Phlebotomist obtains blood specimens, processes laboratory specimens for clinical analysis, and provides patient information to the appropriate caregiver. The work supports the diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients. This is a 24-hour-per-week, part-time day-shift role, scheduled from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. It includes every-other-weekend work and rotating holidays. The role may occasionally require working in processing at Mt. Sinai Hospital and Cancer Center.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of a phlebotomy training program.
- At least one year of phlebotomy experience.
Nice To Haves
- National certification is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Identify patients according to policy and perform venipuncture using standard or butterfly methods.
- Label all specimens according to laboratory policy.
- Receive, cancel, and order laboratory and microbiology specimens, and process those specimens.
- Provide patient information to the appropriate caregiver.
