About The Position

Franciscan Health Indianapolis is seeking a Phlebotomist for a 40-hour per week position with a shift from 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM, including weekend and holiday rotation. As one of the largest integrated laboratory networks serving hospitals in the Midwest, Alverno includes 32 hospitals and multiple physician offices.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Previous phlebotomy experience and/or training
• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record
• May be required to travel/drive to other locations

Nice To Haves

• Background in a medical laboratory
• Knowledge of medical terminology

Responsibilities

• Collection of blood specimens
• Performing laboratory office duties including registering patients, entering data into the computer system, specimen accessioning, answering telephone calls, and processing paperwork
• Processing laboratory specimens, including preparation for testing and/or shipping to central or reference laboratories
• Handling blood, body fluid, and urine specimens according to established procedures
• Performing limited waived and specified non-waived POC tests as authorized by the Laboratory Director
• Acting as a driver and participating in on-call rotation as required in some facilities
