About The Position

Ascension Saint Alexius is seeking a Phlebotomist to join their team. This role is responsible for the collection of blood specimens, performing laboratory office duties, and processing laboratory specimens. Duties include registering patients, entering data into the computer system, specimen accessioning, answering phone calls, and processing paperwork. Specimen processing involves preparing specimens for testing or shipment. The Phlebotomist may also perform waived and specified non-waived POC tests, and in some facilities, may act as a driver and participate in on-call rotations. This position is 20 hours per week with a shift from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, with flexibility for additional hours and rotating shifts including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Previous phlebotomy experience and/or training is required
Valid driver’s license and a good driving record

Nice To Haves

Background in a medical laboratory and/or knowledge of medical terminology is preferred
May be required to travel/drive to other locations

Collection of blood specimens

Accurately and completely entering all necessary data into the computer system

Processing paperwork
Preparation of specimens for testing and/or for sending to the central laboratory or to a reference laboratory
Handling blood, body fluid and urine specimens according to established procedures
Performing limited waived and specified non-waived POC tests as authorized by the Laboratory Director
Acting as a driver and participating in the on-call rotation (in some facilities, as required)
