Phlebotomist: 24 Hours Per Week (AM)
About The Position
Franciscan Health is seeking a Phlebotomist for their Michigan City location. This role is responsible for collecting blood specimens, performing laboratory office duties, and processing laboratory specimens. Duties include patient registration, data entry, specimen accessioning, answering phones, and processing paperwork. Specimen processing involves preparing samples for testing and shipment. The individual may also perform waived and specified non-waived Point-of-Care (POC) tests. In some facilities, this role may involve driving to other locations and participating in an on-call rotation.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Previous phlebotomy experience and/or training
- Valid driver’s license and a good driving record
- May be required to travel/drive to other locations

- Knowledge of medical terminology
Responsibilities
- Collection of blood specimens
- Performing laboratory office duties (registering patients, data entry, specimen accessioning, answering telephone calls, processing paperwork)
- Processing laboratory specimens (preparation for testing and/or shipment)
- Handling blood, body fluid, and urine specimens
- Performing limited waived and specified non-waived POC tests as authorized
- Acting as a driver and participating in on-call rotation (as required in some facilities)
