About The Position
LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is seeking an enthusiastic, team-oriented, and goal-driven Phlebotomist in Dothan, Alabama. The role supports blood collection and donor services at a nonprofit community blood bank serving hospitals across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee. The position requires a varied schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. This is a full-time position with a starting salary range of $15.50–$17.05 per hour. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet and maintain LifeSouth driver eligibility requirements.
- Proficiency with a variety of computer software applications.
- Excellent teamwork skills.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
Nice To Haves
- Previous customer service experience.
- CDL holder; additional compensation is available.
Responsibilities
- Perform phlebotomies and collect blood from donors according to LifeSouth Standard Operating Procedures.
- Collect blood using automated instruments after training.
- Register donors for blood collection in the LifeSouth computer system (IBBIS).
- Determine donor eligibility based on donor interviews and physical assessments.
- Accurately identify donors throughout every step of the donation process.
- Assist with donor recruitment, tele-recruitment, and rescheduling.
- Convert donors to automated technology (apheresis) when appropriate.
- Provide a high level of customer service to internal and external customers.
