About The Position

Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center in Hartford, CT is seeking a Phlebotomist for their Outpatient Lab Team – Patient Service Centers. This role is for individuals who thrive in a dynamic, high-energy, fast-paced, and supportive environment, and who are passionate about helping patients and maintaining organization. The primary responsibilities include collecting and processing blood and other specimens from all patient age groups, adhering to established policies and procedures for clinical laboratory testing to ensure accurate results for diagnosis and treatment. The Phlebotomist will also be responsible for obtaining necessary supplies, verifying patient identification, preparing skin sites, and performing venipuncture and skin puncture using aseptic techniques. Proper labeling and preparation of specimens for laboratory analysis are also key duties. The position requires flexibility to float to various Patient Care Centers as needed, thus dependable transportation is essential. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

  • Collects and processes blood and other specimens on all patient age groups according to established policies and procedures for clinical laboratory testing to ensure accurate lab results that will assist the physician in diagnosis and treatment.
  • Obtains needed supplies, verifies patient identification, prepares skin site, and performs venipuncture and skin puncture according to established aseptic techniques.
  • Labels specimens and prepare them for laboratory for analysis.
  • Float to other Patient Care Centers if needed.
