About The Position

McFarland Clinic is accepting applications for a Phlebotomist in its Ames Lab department. The role supports patient care by collecting and receiving specimens for testing, preparing and dispatching specimens, and collecting blood by venipuncture, heel stick, and finger stick. The Phlebotomist also obtains urine and other patient specimens, performs receptionist and clerical duties, stocks supplies, and helps maintain a clean work area. The position is 32 hours per week, generally Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional Fridays and a Saturday rotation. Candidates should be service-oriented team players able to provide extraordinary care to patients.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or HiSET.
• Formal training and/or experience in phlebotomy.
• Current Basic Life Support certification for Health Care Providers.
• Mandatory Reporting of Dependent Adult and Child Abuse.
• Computer skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Phlebotomy experience in a fast-paced clinical laboratory environment.
• Medical terminology.
• Pre-employment drug screen and criminal history background checks are conditions of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Certification in Phlebotomy is preferred.

Responsibilities
