About The Position

Cameron Memorial Community Hospital Inc is an independent, not-for-profit facility serving Angola and Steuben County since 1926. The Laboratory Department is seeking a Phlebotomist for a Full-Time Night position (1.0 FTE, 80 hours bi-weekly). This role involves obtaining blood specimens by venipuncture and micro-collection, performing clerical functions accurately, and conducting DOT and Non-DOT drug screens and breath alcohol testing.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED
ASCP/AMT phlebotomy certificate at time of hire or ability to obtain in one year.
BLS or ability to obtain within one month of date of hire

Responsibilities

Obtain blood specimens by venipuncture and micro-collection.
Perform all clerical functions in an accurate and complete manner.
Obtain DOT and Non-DOT drug screens and breath alcohol testing.
Observe all necessary safety guidelines.
Follow departmental policies to correctly identify the patient before any blood specimen is drawn and to correctly label all specimens drawn.
Properly prepare any specimens as assigned.
Maintain orderly and timely flow of specimens to technical areas.
Obtain samples of body fluids for analysis by venipuncture, arterial and capillary punctures or as received from the provider.
Obtain DOT and Non-DOT samples as requested.
Maintain accurate and orderly records, orders, reports, and worksheets.
Distribute results to all required physicians and locations in an accurate and timely manner.
Ensure that all information on order requisitions is entered completely and accurately.
Assist in the phlebotomy training of new employees.
