About The Position

Preferred Primary Care Physicians is currently recruiting for a full- time Phlebotomist at a busy PPCP Office located in the Carnegie area. The successful candidate MUST have at least 6 months experience as a clinical Phlebotomist. The candidate must be comfortable working with all aspects of a Phlebotomy position, including essentials such as working with computers and having the ability to multi-task in a fast paced working environment. Requirements

  • At least 6 months experience as a clinical Phlebotomist.
  • Comfortable working with all aspects of a Phlebotomy position.
  • Ability to work with computers.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced working environment.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Graduate from an accredited school of medical assistant.

Nice To Haves

  • Six (6) months of medical assistant experience in a medical practice setting preferred, however open to new graduate applicants.

Responsibilities

  • Verifies test requisitions by comparing information with nursing station log; bringing discrepancies to the attention of unit personnel.
  • Verifies patient by reading patient identification.
  • Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and fingersticks.
  • Maintains specimen integrity by using aseptic technique, following department procedures; observing isolation procedures.
  • Tracks collected specimens by initialing, dating, and noting times of collection; maintaining daily tallies of collections performed.
  • Performs bleeding-times tests by entering results to the computer; notifying pathologist of results falling outside normal ranges.
  • Maintains quality results by following department procedures and testing schedule; recording results in the quality-control log; identifying and reporting needed changes.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
