About The Position

The Phlebotomist/Processor collects, transports, and processes laboratory specimens at Miami Valley Hospital North in Englewood, Ohio. This is a full-time evening-shift position, scheduled from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, with weekend and holiday rotation. The role performs venipuncture and capillary punctures, prepares and labels specimens, completes requisitions, manages specimen receipt using computer systems, and delivers specimens to testing areas. It also involves maintaining equipment, assisting with draw- and order-related problem-solving, conducting inventory checks, training new employees, and maintaining a safe work environment while following regulatory requirements and organizational and departmental policies.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
Ability to walk 5–7 miles daily and stand for the entire shift.
Ability to work with exposure to biohazard substances and hazardous chemicals while adhering to applicable safety requirements.

Nice To Haves

Some experience or training in phlebotomy or laboratory science is preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures according to departmental procedures.
Accurately label and prepare specimens for testing or transport.
Complete requisitions and manage specimen receipt using computer systems.
Deliver specimens to testing areas.
Maintain equipment and assist with problem-solving related to patient draws and orders.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, corporate standards, and departmental policies.
Conduct inventory checks.
Train new employees.
Maintain a safe work environment and promote safety awareness.
Identify and address safety hazards proactively.
Follow safety, ergonomic, health, and PPE requirements and complete required safety training and health evaluations.
