About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is hiring a Phlebotomist II in Lowell, Massachusetts. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with rotational weekend work. The pay range is $24.50 to $26.25 per hour. Salary offers consider relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications, market factors, and organizational factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation. The role involves collecting and processing specimens, including drug screens, biometric screenings, and insurance exams, and administering oral solutions according to established training. The Phlebotomist II verifies orders and client information using laboratory technology systems and approved tools, enters data and billing information, collects payments when required, and performs related non-patient-facing duties. The position also includes maintaining logs and supplies, following departmental procedures, assisting with statistics and data submissions, and completing required training. Requirements
- Three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Keyboard and data-entry experience.
- Flexibility and availability based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call work, and overtime.
- Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record, if applicable.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English.
Nice To Haves
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Responsibilities
- Collect specimens according to established procedures, including for drug screens, biometric screenings, and insurance exams.
- Administer oral solutions according to established training.
- Research test and client information and confirm and verify written and electronic orders using laboratory technology systems, client contact, and approved tools.
- Navigate a computer and accurately enter data.
- Obtain identification, accurately enter billing information, and collect payments when required, following corporate policies.
- Process specimens by labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing, and preparing them for transport as required by the test order.
- Perform non-patient-facing duties, including inventory, stocking supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones, and using email as appropriate.
- Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures.
- Assist with compiling and submitting statistics and data when required.
- Maintain appropriate phlebotomy logs promptly and at the required frequency, including maintenance and temperature logs.
- Complete online and in-person training courses on time.
