This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position for a Phlebotomist Float. The schedule is Monday - Friday with rotating Saturdays, covering locations in Chicago, Park Ridge, Buffalo Grove, and Lake Zurich. Start times range from 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. with an 8-hour shift. The role involves verifying patient identification, assessing patient reactions to specimen procurement, and performing venipuncture and collecting other specimens from patients of all ages according to established protocols. Responsibilities also include obtaining specimens according to priority, ensuring proper labeling and suitability for testing, resolving specimen identification and requisition issues, and performing limited testing under CLIA guidelines. The position also entails answering and screening telephone calls, assisting with inventory, maintaining supplies and equipment, supporting billing and other business functions, accepting and sorting specimens, ordering and verifying test requests, documenting information for quality assurance, running quality control checks, notifying providers of stat/critical results, performing laboratory result entry, and conducting proficiency testing. Additionally, the role involves instructing employees and students in phlebotomy, data entry, and specimen processing functions, and demonstrating knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate patient care.
