This is a full-time Outpatient Phlebotomist-Float position working Monday - Friday. Every other Saturday is required, with no Sundays. Start times vary based on location between 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m., working an 8-hour shift. The role involves verifying positive patient identification, assessing patient reactions to specimen procurement, performing venipuncture and collecting other specimens from patients of all ages, and ensuring specimens are properly labeled and suitable for testing. The position also includes performing limited testing under CLIA guidelines, answering telephone calls, assisting with inventory, processing specimens for transport and testing, ordering and verifying test requests, documenting information for quality assurance, running quality control checks, notifying providers of stat/critical results, performing laboratory result entry, and instructing employees and students in phlebotomy and related functions. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served.
