About The Position

This role involves collecting specimens, managing data entry, processing samples, and ensuring compliance with company policies. The Phlebotomist Float will travel to various locations as needed and perform a range of duties to support laboratory operations and patient care.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
  • One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, blood samples, and processing pathology and cytology samples.
  • Research test/client information and confirm/verify all written and electronic orders using lab technology systems or directory of services.
  • Accurately complete all data entry requirements, including patient registration and test order entry from requisitions.
  • Enter billing information and collect payments when required, safeguarding assets and credit card information.
  • Perform data entry and process specimens, including labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing as required.
  • Work iLabs for assigned accounts daily to ensure accurate data for billing.
  • Provide necessary CIR and PPE Resolution reporting to the Director as required and scheduled.
  • Perform departmental-related clerical duties such as data entry, inventory, stocking supplies, and answering phones.
  • Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures (e.g., Procedure Manuals, Safety Manual, Compliance Manual, Automobile Policies and Procedures, Employee Handbook, Quality Assurance Manual), and ensure staff compliance.
  • Verify patient demographic information/initials and patient signature post-venipuncture to confirm tubes were labeled in their presence and the name is correct.
  • Assist with the compilation and submission of monthly statistics and data.
  • Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs (e.g., maintenance logs, temperature logs) in a timely manner.
  • Complete training courses and stay up-to-date with the latest phlebotomy techniques.
  • Travel to Territory Manager meetings if held off-site or off normal shift.
  • Participate in special projects and teams.
  • Stay up-to-date on company communications.
