Requirements

Demonstrates the ability to use a personal computer and various software programs applicable to the position
Demonstrates the ability to operate applicable office equipment
Exhibits the ability to deal effectively interdepartmentally & with the public
Exhibits the ability to maintain confidentiality, think and act independently with minimal supervision in all situations including traumas
Must have legible handwriting
Able to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently
May be required to lift up to 40 pounds
Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and body fluids
Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone
Requires frequent use of personal computer
Demonstrates manual dexterity

Nice To Haves

High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
Registered as a Certified Laboratory Phlebotomist with a national certification agency for medical laboratory personnel or the American Society for Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or show proof of pending recertification preferred
Working knowledge of, but not limited to: HIS and LIS computer Systems and related equipment, 5-line telephone, Vacutainer System-syringes, butterfly needles, safety needles, finger-heelstick devices, autoclave and bar code printers preferred

Responsibilities

Obtains blood specimens, in a courteous and professional manner, from patients of all age ranges.
Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location.
