About The Position

One Medical is seeking a Phlebotomist/Administrative Assistant (internally known as Lab Services Specialist/Member Support Specialist) to join their team in Long Beach. This role is crucial in providing an exceptional patient experience, offering venipuncture and other clinical support services. The individual will act as an ambassador for patients, ensuring a positive in-office experience from the moment they arrive. Responsibilities include managing patient intake, scheduling, understanding billing and insurance, monitoring patient feedback, and assisting with outreach. The role also involves performing venipuncture on a diverse patient population, assisting with extended scope duties like EKGs and specimen collection, maintaining lab standards, and handling administrative tasks such as answering patient messages and assisting providers with clerical duties. Front desk duties like check-in/check-out, insurance verification, and paperwork are also key. The position requires contributing to team development, performing opening and closing duties, and mastering the company's technology suite. This role supports multiple offices within a market and requires flexibility in location and schedule.

Requirements

  • At least 6 months of relevant experience as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist outside of a training/externship environment.
  • An active phlebotomy certification to practice in CA.
  • Strong customer service skills, including ability to establish and maintain effective customer relationships and deliver customer-centric solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in computer technology such as typing, navigating the internet and using multiple software systems simultaneously.
  • Experience working on collaborative, diverse, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • A proven ability to display confidence and instill trust during the collection process while delivering individualized, human-centered, customer-focused care.
  • A proven track record of persisting through change, consistently stepping up to take action on challenges, and learning quickly and effectively when faced with new situations or tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Use C-I-CARE framework in all patient interactions, clinical and administrative, ensuring a positive in-office experience through patient intake, schedule management, follow-up scheduling, billing and insurance knowledge, patient feedback monitoring, and outreach assistance.
  • Provide venipuncture services on a population ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics.
  • Perform and assist with extended scope duties such as non-blood specimen collection, EKGs/ECGs, vitals, ear lavages, vaccines, PPD tests, and swabs.
  • Maintain high standards of in-office care through proper specimen labeling, handling and processing, inventory upkeep, and tool sterilization.
  • Answer patient messages, follow up on lab cases, and assist providers and virtual medical team with clerical duties such as biometric screening forms, medical record and consult review, billing inquiries, and DOH reporting.
  • Perform all front of house duties including check in/check out, insurance verification, printing/paperwork tasks, prepping tests, and tasking to service level expectations.
  • Contribute to team development through rounding, attending team huddles, participating in team problem solving, and supporting in-office providers with ad hoc asks.
  • Perform opening and closing duties/daily office upkeep, including maintaining the look and feel of patient and employee facing spaces, restocking supplies, and organization.
  • Master the technology suite including Slack, G-suite, Zoom, Circulation, RingCentral, and the Electronic Medical Record System.
