About The Position

The Philosophy Instructor is a full-time, 9-month salaried position responsible for teaching Intro to Philosophy, Ethics, Logic, and Religion courses. These responsibilities involve developing and implementing course syllabi, achieving student learning outcomes, evaluating student performance, record-keeping, and related activities. Related activities include, but are not limited to, advising, serving on various committees, participating in recruiting and retention efforts, and participating in professional activities and organizations.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in Divinity or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate-level hours in Divinity.
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with online teaching and classroom technology preferred

Responsibilities

  • Teach Philosophy, Ethics, Logic and Religion courses
  • Prepare, administer, and grade assignments, and/or program assessment data
  • Maintain a record of student attendance as required by the Mississippi Community College Board
  • Submit grades, attendance, and outcomes according to the academic calendar
  • Manage timely engagement, grading, and communication
  • Participate in departmental meetings and committee assignments
  • Complete 15 hours of professional development each year
  • Ability to travel between campus locations
  • Establish effective relationships with college administration, faculty, staff, and students.
  • Adhere to school policy as set in the Policy and Procedures Manual
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the District Director of Business
