About The Position

The Philanthropy Manager supports the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of foundry10’s philanthropic portfolio. This role manages a team of Philanthropy Developers, ensures project alignment to philanthropic outcomes, and helps the team work in thoughtful and effective partnership across a range of partners and communities. Additionally, they manage their own portfolio of philanthropy projects to contribute to those aims. This is a full-time, exempt position, reporting to the Director of Community and Philanthropic Relationships. The salary range for this position is $90,150 to $150,250 per year, depending on experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in education, nonprofit management, public administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in philanthropy, nonprofit administration, education, or related fields, including direct experience managing philanthropic projects or portfolios.
  • 2+ years of experience managing or supervising staff, including mentoring, performance management, and professional development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a broad range of team members.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative work environment and open channels of communication.
  • Ability to effectively manage, coach, and develop staff, including providing clear direction, actionable feedback, and growth opportunities.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple timelines and priorities.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills to identify trends, gaps, needs, and opportunities across the pillar.
  • Comfort working with budgets, tracking tools, and operational systems (e.g. Monday.com , Google Suite) to support project and portfolio management.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and have experience creating solutions while navigating unknowns.
  • Thrives in thinking outside the box and stepping outside their comfort zone to learn new things.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct management and individual support to a team of Philanthropy Developers.
  • Offer ongoing direction and feedback on partner engagement, proposal review, project development, budget planning, and alignment to team and organizational outcomes.
  • Model strong philanthropic practice through effective decision-making, high-quality communication, and thoughtful stewardship.
  • Support Philanthropy Developers in their professional growth by providing guidance, development planning, and opportunities to build new skills.
  • Lead team-wide portfolio alignment across the Philanthropy Pillar by supporting consistent application of strategic priorities and evaluation plans, partnering with Philanthropy Developers and IA Teams, and surfacing portfolio-level insights and risks.
  • Review and approve projects where designated, and support Philanthropy Developers in preparing higher-level proposals for Director review.
  • Monitor project implementation and alignment to intended outcomes and make adjustments as needed throughout the year.
  • Identify emerging needs, gaps, or opportunities across the portfolio and elevate them to the Director to strengthen long-term strategy.
  • Co-design and facilitate training, shared tools, and learning opportunities for Philanthropy Developers on project development, alignment, partner relationships, and portfolio planning.
  • Support the ongoing development and refinement of internal structures, policies, and processes, including the philanthropy evaluation framework, partnership management, and portfolio planning structures.
  • Collaborate with the Pillar Admin Team to strengthen internal systems, processes, documentation, and workflows.
  • Support Philanthropy Developers in reporting and communicating the impact of their portfolio.
  • Contribute to team-level reporting by synthesizing portfolio-level trends, highlights, and insights from across the team.
  • Help lead learning to inform future philanthropic priorities and organizational strategy.
  • Coordinate with the Pillar Admin Team, including the Director, Philanthropy Operations Specialist, Administrative Coordinator, and evaluation staff, to support the smooth operation of philanthropy processes.
  • Work with the Philanthropy Operations Specialist on workflows, documentation standards, budget tracking needs, and process improvements.
  • Partner with administrative staff to uphold consistent documentation, scheduling, and communication practices across the philanthropy pillar.
  • Collaborate with evaluation staff to design and implement quality output and outcome assessment at the project and portfolio level.
  • Work collaboratively across Pillar and Admin Teams to ensure consistent practice and strengthen shared learning.
  • Co-facilitate Philanthropy Pillar meetings, retreats, and strategic planning sessions.
  • Engage in org-wide activities such as training, all staff meetings, and community events.
  • Meet Philanthropy Pillar expectations for training, development, and ongoing learning.
  • Engage in professional development and support Philanthropy Developers in their own career growth.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.
