About The Position

We are seeking a sophisticated and collaborative Philanthropic Strategist to join the Goldman Sachs Family Office team. This role is designed for a client-facing professional who can help ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families define, structure, and execute thoughtful philanthropic strategies aligned to their values, family priorities, legacy objectives, and broader wealth planning goals. The role will sit at the intersection of wealth management, family office advisory, and social impact, advising clients across private foundations, charitable trusts, donor-advised funds, and other charitable giving vehicles. The ideal candidate is a consultative advisor and relationship builder who is comfortable engaging with clients, Private Wealth Advisors, and external partners to translate philanthropic intent into actionable strategies. You will work closely with family office professionals, portfolio managers, tax specialists, and external legal counsel to help clients design effective giving approaches, evaluate charitable vehicles, support foundation and donor-advised fund administration, and measure the impact of their philanthropy over time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 7+ years of professional experience in philanthropic advisory, wealth management, family office, donor-advised fund, community foundation, private foundation, trust company, or related client-facing advisory role
  • Proven ability to help clients define philanthropic goals, evaluate giving vehicles, develop grant-making strategies, and connect charitable activity to family legacy and wealth planning objectives
  • Demonstrated success working directly with ultra-high-net-worth clients, families, and advisors, with sensitivity to the dynamics of multi-generational wealth, governance, and values-based decision-making
  • Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to simplify complex philanthropic, fiduciary, and tax concepts for clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with charitable giving structures, including private foundations, donor-advised funds, charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, and the broader regulatory landscape for tax-exempt giving

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree or relevant professional experience in law, tax, philanthropy, nonprofit management, public policy, or wealth planning is highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to ultra-high-net-worth clients and families, helping clarify philanthropic priorities, develop giving frameworks, and align charitable activity with broader legacy and wealth planning objectives
  • Advise clients on the practical considerations of private foundations, donor-advised funds, charitable trusts, and other giving structures, partnering with fiduciary, tax, and legal professionals to support effective implementation
  • Lead client meetings across the country to discuss philanthropic goals, family engagement, grant-making priorities, charitable impact, and multi-generational legacy planning
  • Partner closely with family office professionals, Private Wealth Advisors, portfolio managers, tax specialists, and external legal counsel to deliver integrated philanthropic guidance and coordinated client service
  • Contribute to client education, advisor engagement, and sales efforts by articulating Goldman Sachs’ philanthropic advisory capabilities and helping identify opportunities to deepen client relationships
  • Engage in travel to meet with clients, support advisor conversations, and participate in business development meetings
