About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician practices the profession of pharmacy in an environment that promotes patient care through its philosophy and policies. The role calls for a friendly team member who provides remarkable customer service to support patients’ overall health. Responsibilities include interacting with patients, supporting pharmacy initiatives and clinical services, processing prescriptions and insurance claims, managing medication inventory and orders, and maintaining an orderly pharmacy and patient confidentiality.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Registration and/or licensure as required in the state of practice.
Retail or community practice experience.
Excellent customer service skills.
Positive attitude.
Proficient typing skills.
Neat and legible penmanship.
Organizational and prioritization skills.
Teamwork.
Attendance.
Basic math skills.

Responsibilities

Interact with patients at various service points of contact.
Promote pharmacy initiatives and clinical services to customers.
Input customer and prescription information into the pharmacy dispensing system.
Create prescription labels and adjudicate insurance claims.
Retrieve appropriate medication from inventory.
Complete paperwork related to filling prescriptions and receiving drug orders.
Order prescription medication for the Pharmacy Department.
Stock prescription medication.
Organize and prioritize workload.
Communicate effectively and act as an agent of change.
Maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy for a professional appearance.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Hold a state license when required, or successfully complete Meijer employer-based training when licensure is not required.
