About The Position

Logan Health Medical Center is looking for an experienced Pharmacy Technician to join their Inpatient Hospital Pharmacy team. Requirements

Active licensure with the Montana Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician in good standing required.
RQI First Responder within 7 days of hire/transfer or before independent patient care, whichever comes first, required.

Nice To Haves

Completion of a Pharmacy Technician training program preferred.
Prior experience in Pharmacy Systems and Electronic Health Records preferred.
Three years of Pharmacy Technician experience preferred (Senior Pharmacy Technician).
Minimum of one (1) year experience as a hospital Pharmacy Technician with demonstrated competency in IV admixtures preferred (Senior Pharmacy Technician).
Three (3) years’ experience as a hospital Pharmacy Technician at an outside facility or through our Pharmacy Tech and Senior Tech programs preferred (Pharmacy Technician Specialist).
Proficient in sundry duties to include non-sterile and/or sterile compounding or other advanced skill set preferred (Pharmacy Technician Specialist).

Responsibilities

Understand and complete all aspects of medication distribution from the pharmacy to all assigned areas, including inpatient and/or outpatient dispensing.
Fill automated dispensing machines and utilize bar code scanning.
Fill patient drawers in all nursing units.
Deliver medications efficiently to all assigned areas.
Complete rounds according to current policy, including delivering and retrieving medications, and debiting/crediting medications to patient-specific accounts for accurate billing.
Promptly and efficiently answer telephone calls, respond to inquiries, and route appropriately.
Perform all tasks associated with maintaining pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, and shelving medications.
Document and communicate drug shortages.
Monitor pharmacy inventory for outdated medications and dispose of them according to policy.
Maintain a neat and orderly environment, including cleaning duties, medication disposal, and trash disposal.
Actively continue education to keep abreast of Pharmacy law and maintain current licensure.
Assist in the coordination of work activities and training of Pharmacy Technicians (Senior Pharmacy Technician duties).
Manufacture, prepare, compound, package, and label pharmaceuticals within specialized programs like IV additive service, non-sterile compounding, oncology medications, and/or investigational drug service (Senior and Specialist Pharmacy Technician duties).
Actively compound IV medications using sterile, aseptic techniques according to current policies and federal regulations (Senior and Specialist Pharmacy Technician duties).
Maintain the sterile environment in the clean room according to current policies and procedures (Senior and Specialist Pharmacy Technician duties).
Compound chemotherapy products, understanding the inherent dangers and utilizing education and environmental protection tools (Specialist Pharmacy Technician duties).
Participate in the state-approved “tech-check-tech” program (Specialist Pharmacy Technician duties).
