About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician works under the direct supervision of staff pharmacists, according to standard procedures. They prepare medications pursuant to physician orders, perform sterile and non-sterile compounding in the Main Pharmacy, repackage bulk medication in unit dose form, restock automatic dispensing machines, answer phone calls and troubleshoot questions within the scope of their practice, participate in inventory management activities, conduct regular unit inspections, maintain appropriate records and documentation, and routinely participate in departmental educational initiatives. Requirements

  • Minimum six (6) weeks of Pharmacy externship training or one year of inpatient/outpatient Pharmacy experience
  • High School Diploma/ GED or equivalent
  • Graduated from an ASHP accredited program OR non ASHP accredited program + 240 hours of externship, OR two (2) years of inpatient/outpatient hospital experience with a state license
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical compounding (sterile and non-sterile)
  • Proficiency in pharmaceutical math calculations
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • California Pharmacy Technician License

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of inpatient pediatric Pharmacy experience
  • Associate Degree in Pharmacy Technology
  • Familiarity with Automated Dispensing Cabinet use and other IV workflow automation
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Certified Compounding Sterile Preparation (CSPT)
  • Pharmacy Technician Board Certification CPhT
