About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician role is part of the Clotting Factor/Hemophilia Treatment Center Program (CF/HTC) at Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital. This program provides specialized clinical pharmacy services and drug distribution for patients with bleeding disorders. The hospital, located in Grand Rapids, is a nationally recognized leader in patient quality and safety, offering a wide range of advanced medical services and serving as a major referral center for West Michigan.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • LIC-Pharmacy Technician Temp - STATE_MI State of Michigan Must obtain full licensure w/in 90 days of hire. Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Pharmacy Technician, Certified (CPHT) - PTCB Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Excludes - LIC- Pharmacist Intern 90 Days required Or CRT-Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) - NHA National Healthcareer Association Excludes - LIC- Pharmacist Intern 90 Days required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree
  • Hospital experience
  • Full Pharmacy Technician License
  • National Certification, such as PTCB or ExCPT
  • Outpatient or Ambulatory Pharmacy experience
  • Working knowledge of Epic WAM, or QS1
  • Knowledge of Pharmacy Billing
  • Medical Billing
  • Specialty Pharmacy experience

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical assistance, processing and preparing medications and supplies under the direction of a Pharmacist.
  • Works with multiple medication automation systems.
  • Delivers medications and supplies to patient care areas.
  • Triages phone calls and messages from multidisciplinary team members.
  • Able to work in complex pharmacy areas (satellites, sterile product compounding, controlled substance handling, inventory management).
  • Prepares supplies / medication, including complex sterile formulations under the direction of a Pharmacist.
  • May prepare hazardous or biologic products when properly trained and competencies are passed.
  • Prepares and packages bulk medications into unit of use packaging.
  • Handles controlled substances for pharmacy and patient care areas under direct supervision of a pharmacist per federal and state law.
  • Delivers pharmacy prepared medications, controlled substances and supplies to various nursing stations/patient care areas.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Maintains all requirements for CPhT certifications.
  • Completes all Corewell Health assigned competencies by assigned due dates.
