Pharmacy Technician - Per Diem
About The Position
River Hospital is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to work per diem in its Pharmacy Department. Certified Pharmacy Technicians work under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and provide non-clinical support by assisting with medication distribution, checking and replacing outdated medications, ordering pharmaceuticals, maintaining drug inventory, and performing other duties assigned by the Director of Pharmacy. Job duties must align with New York State Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations. Most work takes place within the pharmacy, with intermittent trips to nursing stations, medication rooms, the clinic, the Medical Office Building (MOB), and other units. The shift takes place during hours when a pharmacist is present.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous health system pharmacy experience.
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Omnicell, and McKesson ordering.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work closely with people and in groups.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Certification by the PTCB or NHA is required.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the distribution of medications.
- Check and replace outdated medications.
- Order pharmaceuticals.
- Maintain drug inventory.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy.
- Work in accordance with New York State Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations.
