The Pharmacy Technician will provide services such as reading and interpreting prescriptions and medication orders written by medical staff, selecting and retrieving medications of correct strength and dosage form prescribed, transcribing prescription data to labels using computer systems, prepare prescriptions for review by a pharmacist prior to dispensing, giving pertinent patient instructions when appropriate; complete stock medication orders as instructed by the pharmacist. The Pharmacy Technician is expected to dress professionally at all times and will be required to wear a uniform or scrubs. The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the contract employee will be performing and should not be tight-fitting or low-cut without an undershirt. Open-toe shoes are not permitted. In the event the Pharmacy Technician's dress does not comply with the expectations of the MDC, the Pharmacy Technician will not be permitted entry inside the MDC. The Government will not be financially responsible for the time it takes to return to the MDC with proper clothing.
