About The Position

NewYork-Presbyterian is expanding its mission to provide high-quality care to Westchester County and surrounding communities with the opening of a new state-of-the-art ambulatory care facility in White Plains, NY in September 2025. This facility will offer specialized adult and pediatric care. The Pharmacy Technician role is a per diem position located at NYP The One, 1111 Westchester Ave, White Plains, NY. The technician works under the supervision of department management or a staff pharmacist, filling routine orders for pharmaceuticals for a 24-hour unit dose distribution system and performing other related duties. This includes maintaining departmental policies and procedures, counting, packaging, and labeling medications for pharmacist inspection, and assisting pharmacists with orders and labels. The role may also involve assisting with the preparation and delivery of intravenous preparations and contributing to the hospital's continuous quality improvement efforts. This is a per diem position with alternating shifts.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent with the ability to read and write English.
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
Prior experience in a hospital pharmacy or health care environment (nursing home care).
Computer/PC experience
Excellent human relations and oral communication skills.
Must live within a commutable distance to NYP.

Responsibilities

Fills routine orders for unit of use and prepacked pharmaceuticals for the departments twenty-four (24) hour unit dose distribution system.
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental control standards and infection control standards.
Counts, packages and labels unit of use medication for inspection by a registered pharmacist.
Fills routine orders for medications.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served (neonate, child, adolescent, adult, geriatric).
Assists the registered pharmacists as directed including filling orders and preparing labels.
May assist with the preparation of Intravenous preparations and delivers such.
Assists the hospital and department in meeting and exceeding their commitment to continuous quality improvement.
