Pharmacy Technician - Per Diem
About The Position
A member of Catholic Health, Good Samaritan University Hospital, is a non-profit 537- bed (including 100 nursing home beds) teaching hospital and a member of Catholic Health. The Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy Technicians work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent, College courses desirable
- Pharmacy Technician Certificate required
- New York State License required
- Basic computer skills
Nice To Haves
- 2 – 3 years pharmacy experience preferred, but not required
Responsibilities
- Replenishes floor stock medications on nursing units accurately, fills floor stock requests accurately and maintains appropriate documentation
- Identifies medications no longer in use in the Operating Room, returns medications to pharmacy, and appropriately manages such medications
- Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing pharmaceuticals and supplies in appropriate locations
- Rotates stock to ensure use before expiration date
- Maintains logs, records, and other required documentation accurately. Files documentation in appropriate locations
- Completes and documents monthly inspections of all assigned medication storage areas in a timely and comprehensive manner. Inspection assignments are completed without supervisor intervention
