Per Diem Pharmacy Technician
About The Position
Cardinal Health manages the pharmacy at PAM Health Specialty Hospital of Jacksonville located in Jacksonville, FL. This PRN Pharmacy Technician will work on an "as needed" basis during facility hours. The pharmacy is open Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm and Saturday-Sunday, 8:00am-12:00pm. The Technician II, Health Systems Pharmacy provides assistance to the Pharmacist in the daily operations of the pharmacy. Activities include the preparation of and filling of prescriptions, taking pharmacy inventory and processing product returns. The Technician II, Health Systems Pharmacy ensures that all orders are reviewed by a registered pharmacist and records all activity in compliance with regulatory and company guidelines. This job frequently communicates with customers to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment of all orders.
Requirements
- High school degree or equivalent preferred.
- Florida state pharmacy technician license.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to use technology such as computers, smart phones and tablets.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop, lift and stand for entire shift.
- Applies acquired knowledge and skills to complete standard tasks.
- Readily learns and applies new information and methods to work in assigned area.
- Maintains appropriate licenses, training and certifications.
- Works on routine assignments that require some problem resolution.
- Works within clearly defined standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods.
- Adheres to all quality guidelines.
- Works under moderate degree of supervision.
- Work typically involves regular review of output by work lead or supervisor.
- Refers complex unusual problems to supervisor.
Nice To Haves
- National pharmacy technician certification (PTCB) preferred.
- Prior pharmacy technician experience in an Inpatient/Hospital/LTAC environment preferred.
- IV experience preferred.
- Vendor Credentialing may be required
Responsibilities
- Leads or assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing medications and supplies in appropriate locations.
- Enters medication orders into pharmacy computer system accurately.
- Enters charges and credits for patient medications accurately and timely.
- Generates reports, pick lists, and labels as required.
- Answers the telephone, clearly identifying self and department; directs calls to appropriate personnel.
- Maintains logs, records, and other required documentation accurately; files documentation in appropriate locations.
- Purchase drugs and supplies in accordance with Bids and Cardinal Health best demonstrated practices.
- Assures that all orders received are properly checked-in and put away.
- Attends pharmacy staff meetings including Cardinal Health webcasts and reads departmental email/communications daily.
- Other duties as assigned.
