About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician assists with paraprofessional tasks that support high-quality pharmacy services and the mission, vision, values, and strategic goals of Methodist Health System. This PRN position is at Methodist Richardson Medical Center, a 443-bed, full-service acute care hospital serving Richardson, Garland, Plano, and surrounding areas in Dallas and Collin counties.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Registered technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
At least 1 year of pharmacy experience.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with department and hospital patient privacy standards.

Nice To Haves

Hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
Computer skills preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

Answer the telephone and front window.
Compound products in the IV Lab using sterile, aseptic technique.
Gather items for miscellaneous requisitions, orders, crash carts, and other requests for pharmacist review before dispensing.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area, restock returned medications, and replenish the work area to appropriate levels.
Help maintain pharmaceutical and supply inventory by notifying purchasing when items run low or usage increases, using the “short list.”
Maintain drug storage systems through restocking and troubleshooting.
Conduct unit inspections outside the department.
Make scheduled rounds to nursing units to deliver medications and collect discontinued medications and orders as needed.
Make unscheduled rounds to nursing units as required.
Enter charges and credits for floor stock sheets, narcotic sheets, miscellaneous charge slips, and returned medications into the computer system.
Process medications in an assigned area, such as the OR, IV lab, or first fill, in preparation for final dispensing by a pharmacist.
Train new employees as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.
