About The Position

CVS Health Pharmacy Technicians help patients manage their prescriptions and support the pharmacy team in promptly, safely, and accurately filling prescriptions. They provide compassionate customer service, help meet medication needs, comply with applicable regulations, maintain patient confidentiality, and uphold professional and ethical standards. The role involves managing assigned pharmacy workstations and tasks in a fast-paced retail pharmacy environment. New Pharmacy Technicians must complete CVS Pharmacy’s training program and meet applicable state registration, licensing, and certification requirements. Duties may initially be restricted until these requirements are met. Technicians can continue developing their clinical, technical, and insurance knowledge through available tools and training. Duties and requirements may vary by location and applicable collective bargaining agreements.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years of age.
Meet applicable licensure requirements, which vary by state.
Ability to concentrate on tasks without distraction.
Customer-service orientation, including helping people in a friendly manner and responding appropriately to customer reactions.
Verbal and written communication skills for interacting with customers and colleagues; active listening skills.
Mathematical reasoning, including calculating a prescription’s days’ supply.
Problem-resolution skills, including recognizing problems and choosing an appropriate course of action.
Ability to remain upright and move about on foot for sustained periods; use fingers for tasks such as picking, pinching, and typing; extend hands and arms; bend and stoop; and communicate and perceive spoken information.
Close visual acuity for tasks such as transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, reading, and visually inspecting small parts.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally and exert up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
PTCB National Certification.
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

Manage assigned pharmacy workstations and tasks to support timely, safe, and accurate prescription filling.
Help ensure patients’ medication needs are met and regulatory compliance standards are followed.
Provide caring service to patients and customers that meets or exceeds expectations.
Maintain patient confidentiality and demonstrate ethical conduct.
Complete the CVS Pharmacy Technician Training Program and applicable state registration, licensing, and certification requirements.
Build clinical, technical, and insurance knowledge using available tools and training.
