About The Position

The Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt Outpatient Pharmacy is hiring a Part Time Pharmacy Technician. This role is in a retail environment where you will be filling prescriptions, assisting patients' families at pick up, and assisting with daily orders and data entry. The pharmacy hours of operation are 7:00 am to 11:00 pm. The schedule is 2-3 days a week minimum, Monday – Friday, 8 hours per day, with availability up until 9:00 pm. Previous fast-paced pharmacy experience is preferred but not required. This position does not involve a drive-thru, vaccine metrics, or working alone.

Requirements

  • Must be a Registered Technician with the State of TN.
  • Graduate of an approved discipline specific program

Responsibilities

  • Assists the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing and/or distribution of medications.
  • Applies departmental processes regarding inventory control.
  • Performs activities as directed by Pharmacists and/or Pharmacy Managers in accordance with federal, state and local laws/regulations and hospital policies.
  • Delivers outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Operates computer systems and utilizes technology.
  • Performs tasks within the pharmacy in direct support of the ongoing duties and responsibilities of a pharmacist with occasional guidance.
  • Tasks performed contribute directly to the preparation and/or dispensing of a final dosage form for administration to a patient and are directly supervised by a pharmacist.
  • Provides customer service by answering phone requests and triaging calls to the appropriate person if they cannot answer the requested information.
  • Applies departmental processes regarding inventory control.
