About The Position

Omnicare is a provider of pharmacy services to long-term care facilities, including skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, and other institutional care settings. This role will support Omnicare and its continued operations as an independent, standalone organization; the person hired will be employed by Omnicare. The Front End Pharmacy Technician performs order-entry tasks and collaborates with team members in the medication dispensing process at a closed-door pharmacy. The front-end team enters orders, works with pharmacists to ensure accuracy, and provides customer service. The role also involves triaging customer service requests, calculating or verifying prescription dosages, helping ensure narcotic prescriptions are returned in a timely manner, communicating information flagged by the computer system to dispensing pharmacists, and maintaining accurate customer records.

Requirements

Be a certified, licensed, or registered pharmacy technician, or meet the applicable state-law requirement.
Have at least one year of experience as a pharmacy technician.
Have a verifiable high school diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in the long-term care industry.
PTCB National Certification.

Responsibilities

Perform order-entry tasks and collaborate with team members in the medication dispensing process.
Triage customer service requests by department, urgency, and the information or response required.
Calculate and/or verify correct dosages based on prescriptions.
Assist in reviewing that narcotic prescriptions are returned in a timely manner.
Provide dispensing pharmacists with information about allergies, drug interactions, therapeutic duplications, and other items flagged by the computer system.
Create and maintain accurate customer records.
