Pharmacy Tech for Operating Room & Critical Care, full-time
About The Position
The Pharmacy Technician role in the Operating Room & Critical Care unit involves rotating through key pharmacy areas, working closely with pharmacists and clinical teams. This position focuses on the accurate and efficient preparation and distribution of medications, supporting medication delivery for patient-specific doses across units, replenishing automated dispensing cabinets, and maintaining inventory. It also includes compounding sterile and non-sterile medications and collaborating with care teams to ensure quality and safety. This is a hands-on, detail-driven role where accuracy, teamwork, and urgency are paramount.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of pharmacy technician experience
- Pharmacy technician certification (or ability to obtain within 18 months)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Active registration with the OH Board of Pharmacy
- Must be PTCB certified and OH Board of Pharmacy certified within 18 months of hire
- ASHP accredited program graduate OR licensed as a Pharmacy Intern OR 6 months of pharmacy related experience

Responsibilities
- Prepare and distribute medications accurately and efficiently
- Support medication delivery for patient-specific doses across units
- Replenish automated dispensing cabinets and maintain inventory
- Compound sterile and non-sterile medications
- Collaborate with pharmacists and care teams to ensure quality and safety
- Perform unit dose preparation for cartfill and first doses
- Perform non-sterile, non-hazard dose preparation for first fill or cartfill including preparation of oral syringes from liquid dosage forms
- Deliver patient specific doses
- Prepare and perform ADC replenishment
- Compound non-sterile, non-hazardous medications
- Perform outpatient pharmacy phone triage
- Perform insurance adjudication
- Perform medication storage inspections
- Interact with pharmacy automated dispensing machines and hospital computer systems as necessary
