About The Position

The University of Miami is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join their team. This full-time position is located at Lennar. The role involves collecting, inputting, and verifying prescription information, preparing medications, managing inventory, performing specialized compounding, and potentially serving as a Pharmacy Technician Coordinator. The technician will also be involved in training students and new technicians, mentoring, and staying updated on pharmacy practices. Adherence to University policies and procedures is expected.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent/relevant experience, certification or license
  • Valid State of Florida Registered Pharmacy Technician license required
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience required
  • Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
  • Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information and maintains patient records.
  • Fills orders and prepares labels for unit doses and prepackaged pharmaceuticals.
  • Implements inventory control procedures and ordering supplies within regulatory guidelines. Anticipates pharmacy medication dispensing needs.
  • Responsible for hazardous, specialized, or advanced level compounding, which may include chemotherapy, epidural, ophthalmology, CADD pumps, and TPNs.
  • Serves as a Pharmacy Technician Coordinator, as needed. May also be cross trained in major department roles and responsibilities of a pharmacy technician.
  • Participates in a temporary taskforce/short-term committee.
  • Resolves problems related to prescription inquiries.
  • Performs the preceptor role in the training of students and onboarding of new pharmacy technicians.
  • Serves as a mentor or role model.
  • Stays abreast of advanced knowledge and proficient practice in pharmacy dispensing, medication dispensing systems, controlled substance distribution to floors, pre-packing and any other pharmacy technician duties.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
