About The Position

The UHealth System at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a The Pharmacist Technician 3. This role involves collecting, inputting, and verifying prescription information, filling orders, preparing labels, and implementing inventory control procedures. The technician will also be responsible for specialized compounding, potentially serving as a Pharmacy Technician Coordinator, and resolving prescription-related issues. Additionally, the role includes training students and new technicians, mentoring, and staying updated on advancements in pharmacy dispensing and related technologies. Adherence to University policies and safeguarding assets are also key aspects of the position.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent/relevant experience, certification or license
Vaild State of Florida Registered Pharmacy Technician license required
Minimum 4 years of relevant experience required
Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.

Responsibilities

Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information and maintains patient records.
Fills orders and prepares labels for unit doses and prepackaged pharmaceuticals.
Implements inventory control procedures and ordering supplies within regulatory guidelines. Anticipates pharmacy medication dispensing needs.
Responsible for hazardous, specialized, or advanced level compounding, which may include chemotherapy, epidural, ophthalmology, CADD pumps, and TPNs.
Serves as a Pharmacy Technician Coordinator, as needed. May also be cross trained in major department roles and responsibilities of a pharmacy technician.
Participates in a temporary taskforce/short-term committee.
Resolves problems related to prescription inquiries.
Performs the preceptor role in the training of students and onboarding of new pharmacy technicians.
Serves as a mentor or role model.
Stays abreast of advanced knowledge and proficient practice in pharmacy dispensing, medication dispensing systems, controlled substance distribution to floors, pre-packing and any other pharmacy technician duties.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
