About The Position
The Pharmacy Technician 1 prepares medications for patients under the guidance of a Pharmacist. This role assists the Pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense medical prescriptions, price-checking, and restocking of drugs. Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent/relevant experience, certification or license
- No previous experience required
- Valid State of Florida Registered Pharmacy Technician license required
- Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands (Learning Agility)
- Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment (Teamwork)
- Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications (Technical Proficiency)
- Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders (Communication)
Responsibilities
- Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information and maintains patient records.
- Assists pharmacists in filling orders and preparing labels for unit doses and prepackaged pharmaceuticals.
- Receives and stocks incoming medical supplies and drugs.
- Refers providers’ calls and medical questions to Pharmacist.
- Participates in orientation and assigned training program to attain competency in pharmacy technician duties.
- Stays abreast of basic knowledge of pharmacy law, regulations and standards, pharmacy informatics and technology including medication dispensing systems, and pharmacy calculations.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
