About The Position

This position is responsible for providing clerical and organizational support to the assigned area/department. Under direct supervision, the individual works with the pharmacist in dispensing and stocking of medications for patient care for all ages of patients from infants to elderly.   • Clerical and organizational support skills
  • Ability to work with a pharmacist in dispensing and stocking medications
  • Knowledge of patient care for all age groups (infants to elderly)

  • Experience in stocking automated dispensing cabinets, emergency medication carts, medication kits and trays, and pharmacy supplies
  • Ability to check for discontinued IV admixture solutions and IV piggyback solutions on patient care units and return unused medications to the pharmacy
  • Skill in selecting medications from stock locations and preparing first doses with labeling
  • Experience in compounding sterile products and IV medications using aseptic technique
  • Experience in repackaging bulk oral solid and liquid medications to unit dose form
  • Ability to maintain accurate packaging logs
  • Skill in interviewing patients/families for home medication history
  • Ability to assist with admission home medication histories
  • Ability to perform clerical support activities

  • Performs a variety of distributive functions which require preparing, filling, and restocking medications and supplies.
  • Activities include, but are not limited to, stocking automated dispensing cabinets, emergency medication carts, medication kits and trays, and pharmacy supplies.
  • Checks for discontinued IV admixture solutions and IV piggyback solutions on patient care units and return unused medications to the pharmacy.
  • Selecting medications from stock locations and preparing first doses complete with labeling of medications pursuant to inpatient and outpatient medication orders/prescriptions.
  • Compounding sterile products, IV medications, using aseptic technique.
  • Repackaging of bulk oral solid and liquid medications to unit dose form under pharmacist supervision.
  • Maintains accurate packaging log under pharmacist supervision.
  • Interviews patient/patient family for complete and accurate home medications history and will assist with admission home medication histories as required.
  • Performs a variety of clerical support activities.
