About The Position
Join Trinity Health Of New England’s Pharmacy team to support safe, accurate, and timely medication distribution for Oncology and Infusion therapy patients. Pharmacy Technicians assist pharmacists with processing medication orders, preparing medications, managing inventory, and ensuring patients receive needed medications. Tier III technicians may also prepare sterile IV medications and chemotherapy products under pharmacist supervision.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of sterile IV compounding and chemotherapy preparation experience.
- Current Pharmacy Technician registration or licensure, or a Pharmacy Intern license.
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification is required within 1 year if not already obtained.
Responsibilities
- Accurately prepare, package, and distribute medications for inpatient care areas.
- Refill and maintain automated dispensing cabinets (Pyxis), including medication loading, inventory management, and troubleshooting.
- Process and prioritize medication orders, including urgent STAT requests.
- Prepare sterile IV admixtures and chemotherapy medications using aseptic technique.
- Deliver medications and supplies to nursing units and patient care areas.
- Maintain medication inventory, stock pharmacy work areas, and assist with drug order receiving and storage.
- Conduct medication storage inspections and support regulatory compliance initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records related to medication use, inventory, and charges.
- Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to support patient care.
- Follow hospital, pharmacy, and regulatory policies to support medication safety and operational excellence.
