About The Position

Corewell Health Blodgett Hospital, a nationally recognized award-winning hospital, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to provide technical assistance under the direction of a Pharmacist. This role involves processing and preparing medications and supplies, working with medication automation systems, and delivering medications to patient care areas. The technician will also handle phone calls, prepare complex sterile formulations (including hazardous or biologic products with proper training), package bulk medications, and manage controlled substances in compliance with federal and state law. The position requires maintaining a clean work area and all CPhT certification requirements, as well as completing assigned competencies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician License (must obtain full licensure within 90 days of hire)
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPHT) from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA
  • Must obtain full licensure within 90 days of hire.
  • Must obtain CPhT certification within 90 days of hire.

  • Inpatient Pharmacy experience
  • IV experience
  • Compounding experience

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical assistance, processing and preparing medications and supplies under the direction of a Pharmacist.
  • Works with multiple medication automation systems.
  • Delivers medications and supplies to patient care areas.
  • Triages phone calls and messages from multidisciplinary team members.
  • Works in complex pharmacy areas including satellites, sterile product compounding, controlled substance handling, and inventory management.
  • Prepares supplies/medication, including complex sterile formulations under the direction of a Pharmacist.
  • May prepare hazardous or biologic products when properly trained and competencies are passed.
  • Prepares and packages bulk medications into unit of use packaging.
  • Handles controlled substances for pharmacy and patient care areas under direct supervision of a pharmacist per federal and state law.
  • Delivers pharmacy prepared medications, controlled substances and supplies to various nursing stations/patient care areas.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Maintains all requirements for CPhT certifications.
  • Completes all Corewell Health assigned competencies by assigned due dates.
